Stéphane Grasso is an award-winning Canadian filmmaker and photographer living in Thailand. After more than a decade creating advertisements, short fiction, documentaries, immersive installations and music videos the world over, Stéphane has shown himself to be a versatile artist of unquestionable passion. Working with some of Canada’s premier production houses, he has filmed for leading international brands like Sony Pictures, Ubisoft, 3M, Aldo, Vice and World Vision to name a few. Always the explorer, his work has taken him to the far reaches of Europe, Latin America, the United States and Asia.
Stephane has always believed in the promise of cinema, not just as an art form but as a way of intimately connecting people through shared narratives. After years of creating intimate and personal documentaries, Stephane now tries to bring the same degree of research, empathy and poetry to his advertising work. With influences in Italian, Korean, and American cinema, he describes his style as ‘magical-realist docu-fiction’ a style that is lyrical, visual and universal. His short films, documentaries, and music videos have screened at Slamdance (Park City, USA), Raindance (London, UK), OFF Venice (Venice, Italy), Curtacinema (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), and more.
Stephane now lives in Bangkok with his wife and two sons.
